Patrick's practice focused on civil litigation, real estate, business law, and personal injury matters. Licensed to practice law in California since 1990 and in Texas, he was also a California licensed Real Estate Broker, providing clients with a unique perspective when navigating complex legal and business disputes. His ability to combine strategic advocacy with practical advice made him a trusted counselor to individuals and businesses throughout Southern California.
In 2004, Patrick co-founded Stark & D'Ambrosio, LLP with James D'Ambrosio with a vision of creating a client-centered firm committed to excellence in advocacy and personalized legal representation. Under his leadership, the firm grew into a respected and successful practice serving clients across California. Patrick was deeply committed not only to his clients, but also to mentoring attorneys and fostering a collaborative and supportive culture within the firm.
Those who knew Patrick will remember his quick wit, fierce advocacy, generosity, and unwavering loyalty. He approached both his practice and his relationships with authenticity and passion, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His influence continues to shape the values and culture of Stark & D'Ambrosio, LLP today.
Patrick passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026. While he is deeply missed, his legacy lives on through the firm he helped build, the attorneys he mentored, and the countless clients whose lives he touched. We are honored to continue the work and values that meant so much to him.
Patrick J. Stark was the founding partner of Stark & D'Ambrosio, LLP and a respected member of the San Diego legal community for more than thirty years. Throughout his distinguished career, Patrick was known for his unwavering dedication to his clients, his sharp legal mind, and his larger-than-life personality. He built his practice on the principles of integrity, hard work, and practical problem-solving, earning the trust and respect of clients, colleagues, and members of the bench alike.

A graduate of Thomas Jefferson University, James pursued his undergraduate degree at George Mason University and his graduate degree at The American University. James briefly worked in Virginia politics before moving to California to pursue law. He taught middle school during his post-graduate studies.

Prior to joining the firm in 2000, James worked at the San Diego County Office of the District Attorney, Child Support Enforcement Division; and then at Garrison & McInnis, LLP. James represented clients in white collar and other criminal defense cases in state and federal court.
James is licensed to practice in the State of California and has represented clients pro hac vice in Washington, Texas and Florida. He serves as general counsel to several California businesses. James is a member of the State Bar and San Diego County Bar Association.

In his spare time, you can find James mountain biking or jogging in various San Diego canyons with his family or studying music.

James A. D’Ambrosio is a partner at Stark & D’Ambrosio, LLP. A persuasive and successful trial lawyer, James captures the respect of clients and jurors alike. James has handled more than thirty civil jury trials in the fields of business defense, insurance defense, personal injury, commercial litigation, medical malpractice and construction. He has handled over one hundred non-jury trials and arbitrations as well. James has represented clients in numerous mediations and arbitrations and is regarded by his peers and colleagues as an accomplished litigator. His practice focuses on business and real estate litigation, catastrophic personal injury, complex civil litigation, and trial advocacy.

Anna is a leader in the field of Family Law. She is a past Commissioner with the Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence of the American Bar Association and is an advisor to the Family Law Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association.

Among her accolades, Anna has been recognized by SuperLawyers® consecutively since 2015 and is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a distinction reserved for one-third of 1% of licensed attorneys. She has been selected as one of the Top 10 Attorney Under the Age of 40 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys, Inc., recognized by Best Lawyers® continuously since 2022, and selected as a Women of Influence in Law by the San Diego Business Journal continuously since 2021.

Anna is a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, with over 185,000 members nation-wide. She currently serves as a Delegate to the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates, which is the policy making body of the ABA and as Governor on the American Bar Association’s Board of Governors, which is the governing body of the Association where she represents the State of California. Anna is a prior Vice President and board member of the San Diego County Bar Association, as well as a board member of the Lawyers Club of San Diego.

Anna is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara where she double-majored in Political Science and Law and Society. She received her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA and is admitted to the State Bar of California, the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California, and the District of Columbia.

Anna is bi-lingual in Russian and English. When Anna is not working with her clients or serving the community, she enjoys road cycling, cooking, and chasing her toddler daughter around the playground.
Anna M. Romanskaya is a Partner with Stark & D’Ambrosio, LLP in San Diego, CA, where she manages the firm’s Family Law Division. She represents clients in all aspects of family law, including pre and post marital agreements, marital dissolutions, child custody, child and spousal support, property division and post judgment issues. Anna is well-respected for her client advocacy and collegial relationships with opposing counsel and the court. Anna is regarded as one of the leading family law practitioners in San Diego by both her clients and her peers.
